I am currently trying to understand Mozart, because it looks as if I'll be playing quite a number of his pieces in the future. Up till today, I still remember what Mr. Neckelmann said. He said that to play a piece by a specific composer, you'll have to listen to not just that specific piece, but many other pieces by the same composer. You'll have to understand the composer, his style, and how to interpret his pieces, to be able to perform that specific piece.
Mr. Neckelmann taught me a good lesson. But it is easier said than done. Le sigh.
Some time ago, I had "Will someone please help me understand Mozart?" as my MSN personal message, and a friend wished me good luck because Mozart is difficult to understand. I agree wholeheartedly. I find it truly amazing that Mozart composes such light pieces when his life was shattering to pieces at the same time. Perhaps this is why I find it tough to interpret most of his pieces, that they can be so lighthearted. Mozart must have been an optimist. To me, it is easier to understand something sad and emo because that is when most people need to express themselves. Of course, this is just how I feel and I'm sure it varies with everyone.
Anyway. I searched for some Lang Lang videos since I couldn't see him live.
Hahaha! That is sooo funny, he is like an eager child who's showing off to his mommy. I wonder how many pianos he breaks in a year.
Lang Lang gets many hate comments; many people say that he's just a big show off, and a performer and actor more than a musician, if you know what I mean. They say that he's just fooling around. I think that those who say that he's just fooling around are stupid. C'mon, music is fun! And that video wasn't even a stage performance. Why so serious? Sourprunes.
Aaaahh, then there are the people who says that he's a show off. Well, I really don't see any harm in showing off, as long as it's not to the point of being offensive. If this little video can piss them off that much, it is evident that they are green with envy. And please! He is so hilariously cute when he did that Dragonball thing ok! Hahahaha.
I think that these people should just lay off him, it is a free world and everyone is entitled to enjoy (or show off) music with their own methods. If he enjoys being like that, so be it.
However, my aunt says that he's more businessman than he is musician. To this I agree. How could he agree to perform in one place, and then change his mind last minute when someone else gives him a higher offer! That is so irresponsible and.. and... despicable. Gah. He ffk-ed me. =( Stupid money-minded git.
P.S. PLEASEEE vote on my poll on the sidebar! >>>>>>>

I do agree that Mozart is not an easy person to understand. Not him only ofcourse.... There is more composers which are not easy to understand. We have to know the society on the 18th century, the history of music, the politics, and ofcourse you have to know the whole music history.... Haha! It's not easy at all. Do you know Mozart's stories? Do you know how close he is with his sister? Do you know who had the most influence on Mozart? Probably composers which you never heard of but if you study music history, you'll know. For example, the most influence Mozart's piano concertos was J.C Bach. Plus, music theory! Not only those grade5 or 6 etc.... The whole thing of theory! Mua hahaha!!! To be honest, even you have the talent in your ears but you did not have the knowledge of music... It is quite hard for you to understand in the music position. You can only understand him only til a certain level. I would recommend you to listen Mozart's Sacred works like.... His requiem, his masses, or his other vocal works like opera..... Die Zauberflote, Le Nozze Di Figaro, Cosi fan tutte, Don Giovanni.... etc... and ofcourse his piano sonatas which I would prefer to listen either Horowitz, Daniel Baremboim, Claudio Arrau...... erm... and ofcourse Mozart's piano concertos.... like his famous works are Piano Concerto No.20 and No.21 especially the slow movement! If there is anyting you would like to know, do ask!
You know what, i agree. I had no idea that he was close to his sister. I do know a brief history of his life though, and the myth to how the requiem was created. Lol, i think i really need to brush up on my knowledge. For the past years of my life i wasted hearing but not listening. if you know what i mean =)
what is ur interest in music?
